Airport Taxi
A mini guide to the pros & cons of airport taxis
We try to give an unbiased listing of several options for transportation to and from the airport. Taking a taxi is one of these options. However, please keep the following things in mind before calling one.
Price
If you only have a very short way to go, and are traveling with a few people, the taxi is very affordable. However, for longer distances, it becomes rather expensive. Using your own car is a much cheaper way to travel, and you could park your car at one of the car parks near the airport. Coaches are also an option when the price of a taxi is too high, but make sure you book ahead for lower prices. The same goes for travelling by train.
Comfort
Of course, traveling by taxi must be the most comfortable way of traveling. You don't have to deal with the stress of driving yourself. You're simply dropped off at the airport and off you go. Very easy, and very comfortable. Keep in mind though, that all this luxury comes at a price, especially on longer distances.
Convenience and Reliability
Taxis are both convenient and reliable. If you are travelling at peak times it is advisable to book the taxi in advance. Traffic jams affect taxis as much as they do car drivers but at least you won't be the one driving.
Security
Security is not really an issue.
Conclusion
It all comes down to the price you are willing to pay for comfort. On short distances the taxi is a very good option, but the longer distances are so expensive that you should ask yourself if it is worth the money. If you decide to use a taxi, try searching for a local taxi service in either: A) DMOZ or B) Google. However, if you want to compare the prices of a taxi with the price of parking your car near the airport, please consider browsing to our guide to find out more about airport parking.
